Luke and I don’t really think much of NYE. We don’t drink. We don’t party, it’s a whatever holiday to us.
Fortunately for us, my parent’s throw a pretty huge breakfast (this year it was on the 2nd) and have about 50 people from the ward and stake come.
I have never been. Honestly. In all the years that my parents have hosted this bash, I haven’t attended. Luke and I decided we should make the trek to Chicago and see what it was all about!
I am so glad that we did! We got there on Friday night and stayed with my sister and bro-in-law. It was fantastic. (Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, so all pictures are courtesy of my sis. Thanks Kiera!)
Their oldest boy, Benson,

is a few months older than Mac. The first few days was learning to get along, but they LOVED each other by the end of our visit.
Their baby, Cason, is an absolute doll. I loved getting him to smile and just see him coo. Love that little boy!
Saturday was spent exploring Chicago. I have been and walked Chicago, but this beats all. It could be that I have never taken Luke downtown or the fact that I have never been to the “bean”. Whatever it was, I loved it.

The next day, we went to their 2:50 sacrament meeting and then to parent’s house.
The next morning was a bit rough on the kids. They weren’t allowed downstairs other than the kitchen…and it was difficult, but well worth it when the time came to eat my mom’s (and dad’s) food.
It was beyond amazing: breakfast casseroles, ham, Swedish Pancakes, Danishes, fruit slush, and more.yum!) There were 61 people that came and like I said above, I didn’t have any pictures of this glorious event
But it was a great weekend spent traveling Chicago and partaking of my mom’s food. We drove back on Tuesday morning and let’s just say driving past Sonic helped make our 6 hour trek home well worth it!
