Thanksgiving 2012

Thanksgiving this year was awesome!  Mom and dad came out here the Sunday before and we hit the ground running.

The men were in charge of the basement room:  IMG_7354

and the women were in charge of the food. It worked out great!IMG_7375IMG_7377IMG_7378IMG_7384
"Who wants the gizzard?”   “I do!”  “Too bad…that’ll be mine!”

Our Thanksgiving dinner turned into a big party!  We had several families coming (my parents, my brother & his family, his wife’s family, her parents, the Quists & the Elders), so we held it at the church.  Thank goodness!  Lots of room to run around and play basketball!IMG_7389IMG_7390IMG_7391IMG_7412IMG_7439IMG_7432

Lots and lots and lots of food:

The heat is on….

Well, after almost a week of no power, that is!  I can see why bears hibernate for the winter.  That’s all I wanted to do when the heat and power was out:  eat and sleep!

Having a fun time with a fire:

We saw a lot of these signs:

Tons of flooding, lots of water and electrical lines all over  road.IMG_7197IMG_7206IMG_7210IMG_7215IMG_7233IMG_7182IMG_7183IMG_7184

We were doing really well on our own, but then it started getting chilly in the house (58* after the first night..brr) B&C Kerr were nice enough to let us borrow their generator.  We were able to run some heat through the house, run the freezer and fridge.  It wasn’t until Thursday that we realized we needed to go to someone’s HOUSE because Mac was getting sick.  We knew that if we had stayed home, he wouldn’ve gotten worse, so we stay with our friends Pat & Jim.  It was great for the kids.

On Sunday, during Relief Society, I got a text message from Nancy, our neighbor, saying, “THE POWER IS BACK ON!  WOOT!  WOOT!”  We went home, turned up the heat, had dinner at Pat & Jim’s and let the kids go Trick or Treating in our neighborhood.  (They had cancelled Halloween and pushed it the next Sunday)  Then we snuggled back in to our daily lives.  What an adventure!
