With that said...here are some pictures to recap our time there!

Last year....

Last year (2011) Livi BEGGED me to get her ears pierced.  I had to wait until I was 12 (although my dad wanted me to wait until I was 16!) and after talking with my mom, I thought that was a good age.  I knew she would be responsible...she would be in Young Women's, etc.

And then the begging started....and didn't stop.  I was strong and held my ground.  Then an opportunity came up:  She wasn't doing very well/wasn't focusing when they would do the timed addition/subtraction tests in school.  Not that she didn't KNOW them, she just would dink around and not pay attention to the time.  This was a great mommy moment…because an idea was born!

I told her that if she would focus and get an A on her test, then I would consider getting her ears pierced.  Well.....she sort of stopped asking/begging and I wasn't thinking about it until she came home from school THIS year and told me that she had gotten a 98% and had passed what she needed to, to move on to the next level.  Lucky for us, it was right before her birthday ....so we loaded up that weekend and went over to Piercing Pagoda. (I can't believe I got mine done there almost 20 years ago!!!)

She did such a great job and only flinched when they couldn’t detach the gun from her earring.

What a tropper…and such a doll!

Pre-Vacation

There are so many things to post about...since we had such a great vacation!  But, before I begin, I just want to say how HORRIBLE the flu season has been this year.

Spencer had a cough from October to the beginning of December.   He was finally getting over it when he came home from school and wasn't feeling well.  He was feverish, lethargic (at times), whiny and just all-around tired.  Ugh.  I guess it wouldn't have been such a bad thing, EXCEPT it was the day of the Ward Christmas Party.  Luke got him all ready and by the time he got the church he felt fine and was on his way...fast forward 12 hours.

Livi AND Spencer woke up feeling miserable.  They were fevered, coughing, lethargic, runny nose, no appetite, chills and just looked horrible.  Livi's eyes are literally the window to her immune system.  I know that sounds funny, but I can tell the minute she starts getting sick.  Her normally clear eyes start to cloud up and she's sick within hours.  I've noticed Mac is very similar.

As Saturday progressed, they seemed to be getting better.   No fever, moving around (acting normal), eating well, etc....and within an hour, they were both back down.  This cycle happened for several days actually, until Monday.  They were still coughing, but no fever.  I knew flying the next day wouldn't be ideal, but we had a wedding to get to!  :)

We put tons of oils on them and gave them lots of vitamins and medicine before the plane ride.  Things were going smoothly.

Then, we got on the 2nd flight and things took a turn for the worse...for me!  I couldn't breath, get a breath and just about fainted right there on the flight.  It was a crazy feeling, since that is how I feel when I am pregnant..gah!  I started feeling nauseated and asked the flight attendant for some ice.  I immediately put that on the back on my neck and sniffed some oils to focus me and help me breathe.  That all worked tremendously, but the stomach ache wouldn't go away until I took some of the oil internally and it work almost right away, it was awesome!

The next day, Wednesday, there was a bit of coughing and being nauseated (oils helped), but it looked like we were all doing well.  The wedding was BEAUTIFUL and so fun and we got to spend time with our loved ones, which I always look forward to.

Friday came.  It was back and with a vengence.  The older 2 kids were good, but Mac had a high fever and was starting to cough.  His ears were leaking and we knew it wasn't good.  We were going to be traveling to Idaho the next day, but we had plans to be in Heber that day.  We kept debating back and forth, but after Mac's fever broke, we thought we would make the trek and be with my family one more day.  I'm so glad we did!  It was so fun and we had a great time together, but Mac started fevering again, even with Ibuprofen.  We started giving him albuterol treatments every few hours and had them going in the car as well.

I started coughing (bronchitis) around this time and am just starting to get better, (January 10th).

Mac has had a hard time, per usual.  He went a few days last week were he coughed for 40 minutes (Monday night) and 30 minutes (wednesday night) STRAIGHT.  That is not an exaggeration.  It was so sad and nothing would help him.  We did SEVERAL breathing treatments, took him outside and put him in a hot/steam room twice.  He is just starting to feel better...now to only break him of sleeping with us again....and Livi and Spencer started coughing again.

They have reported that this cycle is a viscious one.  You get the flu that turns in to upper respiratory, and when your immune system is down, you start over again.  Yikes!

Ward Christmas Party 2012

This year the Bishopric asked me to be in charge of the Ward Christmas Party. (I guess I shouldn't have opened my mouth in front of the Relief Society President.) I had quite a few things planned out...and then a member of the Bishropric approached me with a great idea. Once we talked a few things over, we were off and running.

It took a lot of planning and preparation, but I really think it was a hit.  We had a dinner, during dinner entertainment, a light show and then a Whoville Play.

I had to document how scary it was for me to watch the Kerr men putting up the sign.  I thought Tacie would enjoy it as well!  Winking smile

it was a balancing act…on the top of some very high ladders!

Beforehand and getting ready:

I will say, that there was a LOT of resistance to my changing the normal ham dinner with a potato bar. A LOT of grumbling and complaining, but I have heard nothing but compliments on it and "thank you's" for the change. :)
