November 2023: The accident

I'm trying to block out this night.  Everything is still pretty vivid.  Walking up to the scene of an accident with lights flashing and flares blazing, is not how you want to find your child.  By the grace of God and so many prayers and miracles.  He walked away from this crash without a single scratch on him.  Not one.  He had a little bit of a rash where the seatbelt had been.  But he was otherwise unharmed.  He had xrays and a CAT scan done.  Zero. Zilch.  A miracle from God.  There is some mighty work this boy needs to accomplish.  Hopefully he'll be able to figure it out.

I thought I had cried all of my tears out the night before (Tuesday), so when we came upon the accident scene the next day, I thought I was good...
The sheered down utility pole he hit.  That massive pole was 6 inches tall after the van hit it.

Where he left the road:
Until I found the Toyota Sienna symbol.  I lost it.  I'm not sure what happened or what came over me, but as I type this a month and a half later (December 19th), I am tearing up.  It's symbolic in some way, but I'm not going to delve into it too deeply.  I would be a blubbering mess.

Apparently, I'm still pretty emotional about it.  Going through these pictures is like going back to that night.  It's heart-wrenching, but also so peaceful to know that he is still alive.  God is so mindful of us.  So thankful our Spencer Boy is still here with us.

April 2022 weather

Just so I don’t forget the weather in April!  Track and soccer things have been canceled.  The soccer game on Saturday, April 9th was so windy.  GG Blonquist were both troopers to come to the game.

January 2021: Updates

It is currently December 7, 2021.  I am going through all of my photos over the year and realize that I haven't updated in 1 1/2 years (June 2020).  Since this is so unlike me, I need to remedy it asap.  Here are some overloads.

We started off the year doing some construction.  It is now a year later, and we aren't completed.  Go figure.  What should have been an easy add on to our home, has turned into something a little bit longer.  This is Spencer's entire room.  It didn't have a closet, so we decided to build a wall, add a closet on the opposite side and have a walkway into the office next door. All of the kids go in on the action.  What's not fun about demolition?

Mac was ordained a Deacon:

Livi and Rosie making some muffins:

Spencer is wrestling:

Me trying to eat better in the new year.  Didn't last too long, but the food was delicious:
Terry and Iris thought we were going a bit slow, so Terry came up to help us:

Rosie being a cat:
We loved having Tori's family living close.  It was so fun getting to know Lu and the boys better:

Dinner for Luke's bday.  Red Lobster ended up shutting down only a few months later.  Good thing we came when we did!

Spencer after what we thought was a broken nose.  His coach didn't think so, but he hasn't been able to smell out of it correctly since then:

Oh, the tangled web we weave.  I thought I could do a camo wall on Mac's room.  Didn't work out and we scrapped the whole idea.  I look back and think it actually looked good:

The nose sage continues:

Mac got a kit of knives and wilderness survival tools:
Taking care of Charlee:
Mac's room in progress after painting over the camo.  PS, I still haven't finished this room either!!  I got covid (in September) right when I was completing the trim.

Our bedroom right before we sold our furniture.  We completed the wall in November 2020 and LOVE IT!
