Sickness

Well, we were ALL feeling great for the month of January...so what were we to expect when last week Spencer got a cough...that Livi caught...that Mac caught and then Luke got. Ahh, the joys of winter.
I took Mac to the dr's yesterday because he had the following symptoms: fever, major wheezing, cough, waking up SCREAMING and crying for long stretches. (the last 2 are definitely NOT mac). We couldn't get in to our regular dr., but the dr. said that his cough sounded croupy and we should keep up with the nebulizer. She said to come back in a few days...ok, thanks. He is on anti-biotiocs (prednison...blah, blah, blah), so we'll see how he feels in a few days.

Does anybody else out there think that the side effects of some medication is crazy?! For instance, some of the side effects from THIS medicine are: stomach issues (pain) and hyperactivity or something close to those lines and let me tell you...he has experienced BOTH. It has been insane when he wakes up at 12a.m. with crazy stomach pains or after he has been up for 2 hours he starts bobbing his head and sort of whigging out...crazy stuff.

I'm signing off...I haven't slept in about 3 days and luke is going to kick my bum if i don't hurry up and get to bed!

Yes, crazy side effects. That's why I refused to take a recent 2nd round of antibiotics for Anna. They were already hurting her tummy so badly and this one was stronger and supposedly going to hurt her tummy even worse. Hence, homeopathic remedies...and they are working! And, honestly, the more antibiotics you (as in anyone) take, the worse for your system. Hence the "probiotics" taken afterwards to restore the good bacteria to your system so you don't get even sicker. I could write a book :-) So we'll just talk. And I have some probiotics that I'll give you so you can give them to him when he's off the antibiotic. Get better little Mac!

Whoa. I've never had any weird side effects happen on my kids. I would have no idea. Hope they all get better soon! I'm sick as well, but just a bad cold. I'm trying to keep my kids out of it, but we'll see what happens.

Wow Katie! I am sorry that you are going through sickness after sickness!

Medication is a life (and sanity) saver but yes, it is definitely a necessary evil.

I hope you all get well soon!!!

Katie: Please be sure you have him take a probiotic (acidophilus) while he's on antibiotics. (Regular yogurt is not concentrated enough) The liquid is the best, even though it tastes nasty. Also, whenever Evan had to go on steroids, it made him aggressive and he did stupid things. I had to watch out for him. But, he did grow up and is very strong and healthy!! So, hang in there.

Oh yuck! So sorry you guys are sick again. We are going through that right now. Zac was up screaming all night Sunday night, which isn't like him. Turned out it was another bad ear infection and now he is on stronger meds. I haven't noticed much side effects with my kids, thank goodness. Hope you get some sleep. Taking care of three kids with no sleep is no fun. Hang in there. Hope Mac gets well soon.

Having sick kids is the pits. We are off to the Dr. ourselves this morning for a fever that has lasted 3+ days for Kayden. Can it be summertime yet please??
