The Dilemma:
We have an awesome fireplace surrounded by 2 built-in bookshelves. It's nice, but a little...
blah.
This is what I have proposed to Luke:
1. Lighten up the back of the bookshelves. (My brother Jarrett made a great point about painting it though. He said that since it is nice wood behind there, I might later regret it...so wallpaper it instead. Brilliant.)
2. I am going to change the top half of the fireplace. I think there is too much brick, so I'll try something a little like this:
or this:
It won't look that grand, but you get the point.
It's a long time coming since I have been itching for a project...

hey...i wouldn't touch the built in book shelf's. I think they are great. No wallpaper. I would want to change the fire place like you said. It is outdated and i am sure you can do a lot to it to make it look cooler. Good luck. You are brave!!
FUN! I love it! It's always fun to spruce up things! I've been on a huge home diy project kick lately! Let me know how the wallpaper thing goes, that's a great idea!
can't wait to see how it all comes together!!! so fun!
if the wallpaper you like is too expensive, wrapping paper works well too, good luck, can't wait to see it when it's all finished!
Ok, so fun! What a fun time to be able to buy an older home and do your own thing to it by adding your personality and tastes. I'm sure whatever you decide, it will be daring!! Can't wait to see what you end up doing.
