The Backsplash part 1

I have titled this post Part 1, since I am pretty sure there will be a Part 2 lurking in our future.

Times have surely changed since Luke tiled a few years ago.  They now have this double-sided adhesive sheets that work like a charm and you don’t need that first layer of stuff/grout on the bottom.

You place the tile:

And then you push…

and push…until it is in place.

The only downside of this adhesive vs. the grout is that it isn’t very forgiving.  If you push down, chances are, it’s not coming back up!

The kids had some friends over and spent a lot of time outside.

Taking a break to eat dinner:

We had some other kids over, while their parents went on a date.  It was so great that our kids were able to be preoccupied and we didn’t have to worry about entertaining them while doing this….IMG_4396
I even got in on the action and cut some tile..

and here I am grouting it all.  We actually used 2 different colors for the grout and I love how it came out.  Not sure that anyone else would notice it…but we like it.

Final product. I’ll try taking pictures tomorrow in the light, so you can get the ‘real’ color.  It is almost a “Tuscan-inspired” red color and then we bought some slate to break it up.

The slate is really good at incorporating the black and stainless steel appliances with the Tuscan-red tile.

Our Easter traditions

Growing up, my mom sewed us cute bunnies to put jelly beans and other candy in.  I think I may have pestered her a bit about it because she MADE some for our kids last year!  I am not quite sure if I have expressed my thanks to her, but seriously, I love, LOVE them!  Such great memories...

Here are the ones she made for the kiddos.

Easter traditions continued...

We also (usually) make an effort to dye eggs.  I'm not going to lie..I hate doing things with the kids that involve anything with the potential of being dirty.  (Markers, play doh, paint, EGG DYE).
I was a bit nervous with Mac, but I was able to help him, without his realizing it...

After his eggs were done, I gave Mac stickers and he was pretty good with that!

Easter Sunday:
Luke spoke on "Hope in the Atonement" and the choir performed, "He Lives, He Lives"
Luke stayed after Church to help train someone on his calling (he got released as Ex. Sec).  I asked the kids to get changed ASAP and I failed to get a picture!

So I asked them to get redressed :)

And this is the best we got!  Candy was more important :)

We had a few families over for Easter Dinner.  It was great!  The kids had a blast playing outside and the adults loved a little peace and quiet inside!

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa B!

Sorry mom and dad..we didn't call you when we got the package, BUT the kids LOVED their gifts!
