after spending almost 6 hours cleaning on Saturday i mentioned to Luke that it felt like we had just done our spring cleaning. imagine my surprise when he said that this wasn't even close AND that we had only done the basic cleaning. upon further probing, i came to find out what his idea of spring cleaning really was...and it didn't include ANYTHING we had just finished around the house. 6 hours down the drain. literally.
his idea of spring cleaning? opening every cupboard in the kitchen, taking everything out, cleaning, reorganizing and putting it back....hmmm...taking down all the drapes, cleaning them, steam, etc. and put them back up..the list goes on and on…
well, realizing that he would be working major overtime hours this week AND the fact that it IS spring break, i thought i would tackle the kitchen. on.my.own. i know, i know, many of you are seasoned spring cleaners, but i.am. not. let me repeat: i.am.not.
i don't know many of you who LOVE cleaning, even if you do love having a clean house, but me...yeah, i have gone through a very hate-filled relationship with anything clean oriented. don't get me wrong. there is a certain satisfaction with having a clean, organized home. but after 6 hours already? enough was enough.
apparently not. i spoke too soon and i did in fact clean the kitchen. top to bottom minus the fridge and a cupboard....and mopping...and..ok, I didn't finish it all, but my parents came last night and i had other priorities, like feeding my children and making sure they didn't kill each other or destroy ever other inch of my home.
while on this cleaning journey, i thought it a good idea to get the kids involved. i mean, seriously, what else would livi want to do on her spring break, right? this may or may NOT have been a good idea...at first, it was a great idea, they were excited, ect..but after about 10 seconds minutes they were done and so was i. instead, i pushed through and after 6 hours, the kitchen was done for the night…

thankfully when luke DID come home, he told me that I had today off..and I am holding him to that…especially with how beautiful it is outside. Easter egg hunt, here we come!
p.s. you should see the kitchen right now. not good. whatevah!
