Apples Part I and II

Apples Part I: Carmel Apple Night

Fall is my favorite season! This year we have been lucky enough to have made some great friends, not to mention making memories and building apple traditions! I don't think I have ever done a "real" carmel apple night. The carmel was homemade and DELICIOUS! The kids had a hey-day putting their toppings on..and we finished the night with rootbeer...a fall favorite for me!

Apples Part II: Apple Picking and Bonfire

Yesterday we decided to have FHE, dinner and a bonfire at a friend's home who also happened to have an apple tree! We are so lucky! The kids had a great time playing, picking apples and eating TOO many of them (spencer's diaper showed the effects today :)

Here is a typical Spencer thing..in order...

(BTW, the last picture was taken earlier in the night and I really had to literally run from the house to catch him..and I took the picture before saving him. Mother of the Year award this way please! :)

Boring post...

This is going to be a boring post, but I do need input! We are looking for a bigger car/van/suv. We would prefer a van to an SUV, but would consider anything. We actually almost bought a Jeep Commander this weekend... (2008, 28,000 miles and at a great price! But we didn't like the gas mileage)

So, what do you drive? Are you happy with it? Tell me about it...

*Our ideal car/van/suv would be a Sienna Toyota, but our biggest concerns are:

-size
-gas mileage
-2005 to 2008
-great quality car (Honda and Toyota) one that won't break down the day we buy it!-
-certified/warranty

At the Car Wash

We had a beautiful Saturday and decided to take full advantage by being outside as much as possible...which led to our car wash fun. The kids had a blast and LOVED helping...a little too much, if you ask me!

I had a nightmare...

That's right folks, I had a nightmare. I've had them before, you know, the one's where you sit straight up right outta bed and then can't get back to sleep? I tossed and turned about 40 times before I got up, started a load of laundry and started typing this post. You also might notice that it is 7:48 A.M. And for those that know me well, but especially for those that DON'T know me well...this is about 3 hours earlier than I normally get up. Yes, that's right. I have 2 wonderful kids that really "understand" and "appreciate" how important it is to SLEEP IN and to let MOMMY sleep in every day.

Many of you will notice that I don't plan play dates, go to play group or even have Livi in A.M. preschool...and obviously the reason for that...I like my mornings...spent in my bed!

Don't get me wrong, last year we were up with the rest of America, getting her ready for school that started at 8:30 a.m. and I don't have anything against that. To be completely honest, I sometimes miss it (apparantly NOT enough:)!

I realize that many of you think that I may be lazy or you just "can't believe" that I am so lucky. I know. I really know! I am one lucky mother. Since we moved out here to this dungeon of an apartment and put a dark blanket up in the window, the kids have slept much better. 12 1/2+ hours of sleep a night is what I call a dream...

Darn it!! The kids are up and it's 7:56 a.m. on a Saturday...I'll just eat my words.

I'm a soccer mom!

Livi started soccer on Saturday and it was not only fun, but HILARIOUS! They were all so worried about getting the ball that they didn't care if you were on their team or NOT! There was one little boy that kept pushing people down and kicking everyone. Haha, what to do but laugh? I definately felt like I was in soccer county...there were 21 minivans and 4 cars in the parking lot. We felt a little left out! I think this will be really good for her...poor Spencer, he doesn't have anything for him to do, yet. Here are some pictures of our mini soccer player:

Did I mention that it POURED!!! It seems like Hurrican Ike's aftermath decided to come up North...and we got it! Whoa!

Lesser of two evils

So, how do you all feel about politics? Are you leaning one way or the other? How did you come to your decision? What did you think of the youtube video up at the top of my blog?

I'm not much of a political guru...but I really thought this was a great youtube video. I don't necessarily WANT McCain to be the next president, but I REALLY don't want Obama. To quote our next door neighbor, "It'll come down to me voting for the lesser of two evils".

9/11 Where were you?

I had a flippin' early class and was in the basement of the Clarke Building. We were waiting for the other class to come out and another teacher told us about it. At first, we had no idea what she was talking about (it WAS early!) and then we were all in shock and couldn't believe it! After being in class a few minutes, the teacher announced it again. One girl got up and left the class....she had a family member that worked in the building. Luckily they were ok.

I remember going home between classes and listening to the radio since Luke and I had been married exactly one month and one day and we didn't have cable. This is where I was a little more in shock. I called my parents in Chicago, since we weren't sure where the next attack would happen. My dad said they were all ok.

Later on that day, Luke and I started our first day at Artco. We were sitting in the orientation room listening to everything over the PA. They had the PA linked to a current events channel, so we listened all of the several hours we were working. It was surreal. We couldn't really believe it was happening and to see it happen...was unspeakable.

First Day of School

Finally!!
Seriously, I thought this day would never happen, not because we want to get rid of our Princess, but because she is SO READY to be back at school! I don't much blame her, remember that last post? I'm borrriiiinnnnggg! :)

First day breakfast:

Looking all cute and stuff....

Done for the day: (*Note: her socks are pushed down..hehe, that's my girl!)

This little one was so sad when we dropped her off. The whole way home Squish repeated, "Go Back. Go back Mom. Go back Lily!" Poor kid!

Lack of blogging

Apparantly I have become a blog slacker. I was pretty good about blogging several times a week (sometimes even multipe times in one day). Now, I find myself at the crossroads of blogging...alright, alright, it has nothing to do with blogger, but ALL WITH ME! I'm borrrriiiiinnnnggggg and I don't have much to blog about because:
1. Livi isn't in school yet
2. We aren't really being too active right now
3. Livi isn't in school
4. Livi hasn't started soccer
5. Spencer isn't doing much
6. Momma's tired even with the lack of things!!

So, here are a few random shots we took last Sunday. It was a good family day (as are most of our weekends) and we really enjoyed taking in the different sites and beautiful weather with each other.

Fall

So, I am not going to lie when I say that I LOVE FALL!! But this year, this love has been tainted by the ever fast approaching doom day: leaves falling off the trees. Yes, I love the changing leaves and all the BEAUTIFUL colors, but get a little sad when they actually fall off the tree.

We got back a week ago and noticed that some trees had already changed leaves and the TREES were BARE! What the heck?! I realize that the climate is different in Kansas City, but that is one of the many reasons we LOVED it down there....Fall lasted a very long time! In Idaho, Fall started quite early and it was snowy around Halloween. Kansas? Well Kansas was one of those good memories. Last year Halloween was pretty warm and then the sun went down and we wore hoodies. I'm thinking that Ohio has some cold weather in store for Halloween...sad :(
