diastasis recti

after giving birth to all of my kids, i have always had a ridiculous time losing weight. just one of those things..especially since i nurse and my body likes to hold on to the fat.

well, a few weeks ago I noticed my stomach bulging...it looked like i was pregnant again and one of the baby's limbs or head was protuding. i was a little concerned since i knew it didn't look right, so i started doing some research and found out that it was called diastasis recti (Here is a picture --NOT OF ME! I'm not this bad, but you get the idea)

Isn't that crazy? I look like I am 5 months pregnant (most of it is because I need to lose weight) and hopefully I can do some exercises and get rid of it, but if not...I am destined to a life of maternity clothes. little depressing, eh?

I've never heard of that. That's pretty awful. Hopefully you can get rid of most of it.

What is it called when your stomach bulges BEFORE you've ever been prego? ;)

Oh no! I just had an umbilical hernia repaired, which I got during Gavin's pregnancy. Don't know if that will make you feel any better or not. Good luck fixing the problem Katie.

hey..yeah i had never heard of that till i started my boot camp videos and lindsay brin really focuses on that. I am not sure if i had it with sydney but i am sure i did but i did have it with london cause my friend showed me how to find it before i watched those work out videos. It was nothing like that picture and i did not know it made your stomach stick out, very interesting. Yes the joys of being preggers and us who are cursed and cannot loose the weight the week after the baby comes out. Those girls who can wear their normal jeans should be tortured heheh anyhoo i really think you would like my boot camp videos. Go to www.momsintofitness.com if you are interested.

holy moly! Never heard of that!!

I agree with the comfy part of maternity clothes...not that you want to wear them FOREVER, but they sure can be comfortable!

Katie,

I just found your blog and want to let you know about what I do. I am an Advanced Personal Trainer that is certified to work with Pre & Post Natal Women. Diastasis is actually pretty common. A lot of women just may not have it as badly. But it is only one factor that contributes to the "Pooched Belly"

After 5 years of working/studying and with women, I am getting ready to launch my own CORE 4 program online. I use progressive exercises, video and a unique assessment to help women fix this problem along with getting their waist back and other common issues.., stress incontinence, posture and the lower back.

I even have a patent pending splint wrap that will be on the market soon :)

If I can be of any help, let me know www.exerciseandpregnancy.blogspot.com

My program is a one-on-one, custom 6 weeks program. Generally, depending on the width of the diastasis, it can be corrected and women lose inches off their waist in several weeks.
