My tackle it Tuesdays are going to be accomplished on the weekends and then blogged about on Tuesday (because I can't lift/move everything I want to without Luke's help)
Case in point:
I decided that I needed to go through some (only 5 more to go through!!) of the kids clothes before I got too big and too tired to do it later. And for all you pessimists out there, Yes, I still have 4 months left, but please don't rub that in (I HAVE gotten through almost 6 months..so give me some credit! :) I didn't realize how many baby clothes can fit into a bin...and I forgot how adorable their clothes can be (especially little girls' clothes!)
Also, one of the bins I went through had yellow stains on most of the clothes..Anyone have any idea what it is from?! I've tried almost everything, including bleach and it WILL NOT COME OUT! (It isn't spit up or from a poopy diaper)

Are they protein deposits? Over time deposits from breast milk or formula will re-appear on baby clothes. I had to throw out a bunch of Reagan's old ones because of this. You usually find it on onesies etc.
Here's what I found on the diy website:
Protein stains are common on children's clothing because of food and milk spills and drooling. Freshly washed children's clothing may appear clean when going in to storage, but enzymes remain active and cause staining. Before storing clothing that has experienced organic stains, it is best to soak them in an enzyme detergent like powdered Biz or pre-treat stains with enzyme digester cleaner. The secret to using enzyme cleaners is to give them time to digest the stains. Stains are often difficult to remove. Soaking in enzyme detergent until stains disappear is recommended. On white fabrics, hydrogen peroxide on stains is often effective. Many report success using an oxy-whatever product because these products are peroxides.
HTH!
I've been in a major organization frenzy lately...I don't think I'm nesting already, but maybe! Anyways, I did the same thing a couple weekends ago. I went through all the kids' old clothes we have stored. I sorted them by sizes got rid of a few too. It turns out Sam has 12 totes of clothes! And they're all full to the top. If we have a 4th child, it better be a girl!
I don't know what it'd be from, but try filling your washer up with cold water and a couple of scoops of oxyclean, spray the spots with some kind of stain remover (like shout) and let them soak for a couple of hours in the oxyclean water. Empty the washer, then wash like normal in warm water. It worked to clean the 26 year old spit up stains from Nick's blessing outfit, so hopefully it will work on your mystery stains.
I am proud of you, I am about to have this baby and all his clothes are still in boxes. I know I will regret it later, but i just don't want to worry about it now. :)
try oxyclean spray. I liked ti get the organization done early b/c you never know how you will be feeling at the end!
hey katie just wanted to say hey and sorry i don't venture out to other people's blog's often! congrats on accomplishing 6 months i usually love the 6th month and then start swearing after the 7th month i'm never going to do that again...apparently it took 4 times to finally make that threat real! thank you for leaving me nice comments! i'll keep trying to venture out more and leave little comments here and there!
You guys are awesome!! Thanks for the info and I will go buy some Oxiclean and see if it works!!
I'm so proud of your Tackle it Tuesday posts! You're one good lady. And I have no idea what it could be. =) But these other people have great suggestions! =)
I have the same problem!! I thought I was fairly well covered as far as Brooklin's clothing supply goes, but I'm finding the same nasty yellow that you're describing. P.S. You look adorable pregnant! I'm glad you're embracing it.
Not sure if this will help, but Greased Lightning (yes the bathroom cleaner) is a fantastic pre-treater for laundry and says on the bottle it is safe for most fabrics. Let us know if you get it out!
