Cystic Fibrosis is "an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that:
-clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and
-obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food." www.cff.org
We were able to walk as a ward/primary for a very sweet and precious boy, Porter . He really is so fun and cute. We were very much in awe of all the walkers for him and others that suffer from this disease. We hope that they find a cure soon.
We LOVED this zoo!! It was fantastic and reminded us a lot of the St. Louis Zoo, not free, but very wonderful nonetheless.
Here is a Buddha Monkey on the way to the Rainforest
A chameleon
Did you know?
Great Strides posters along the way

Can you see the mist in the background?
Ok, let me just explain my "pretty" self in this picture. Spencer woke up at 5:51 and I couldn't go back to sleep. So, I got up and made Luke breakfast in bed and got the kids up and fed. We were at the zoo by 8:20 or so. I was pretty tired by this time, but the adrenaline and the urgency of this walk kept us going until we got home and we crashed. We had a fabulous nap!! :)
Again, it was a wonderful day and we are so thankful that we were able to be a part of it.
