Random pictures

here are some random pictures over the past 4 days: (notice the first 2 pictures of snow...and the last 2 pictures...IT HASN'T STOPPED SNOWING. Ok, nothing compared to out west, but you have to remember that we have been living in Kansas for 2 years and it doesn't stay very long!)

Smile a day #11

(As you can tell this whole smile a day this is NOT consistent..oh well!)

So, yesterday my WONDERFUL husband stayed home because I was so sick. He got up with the kids, got them breakfast, did ALL the laundry, entertained them ALL day, put Spencer down for a nap and then took livi grocery shopping so I could relax and nap. What a man! thanks Luke!

Mom, have you called Jenny?

So today Livi and I were watching snippets of t.v. and a commercial came on for Jenny Craig. At the end it said something like, "Why haven't you called Jenny?"

Five minutes later Livi asks, "Mom, have you called Jenny?"
Me: Um, who? ( you can tell my memory span....)
Livi: Jenny, you need to call her.
Me: Ok, why?
Livi: Oh, from t.v., you need to call her, it's important!

(Livi is either enjoying commercials WAY too much...or it's her way of saying the I need to lose weight!)

one more smile

Ok, there is one more smile for today...I am just sitting here on my couch, playing on the computer and watching Narnia with the kids...while the MAIDS CLEAN MY HOUSE! Oh..I LOVE CORPORATE HOUSING!

Smile a day #10

Today's smile a day is dedicated to Livi...as so many things come OUT OF HER MOUTH!!

Today I asked her if she wanted to write a letter to her friend Natalie who had sent her a Valentine in the mail. She said, "Why would I want to do that?" A few seconds pass and then she said, "Oh, I got it, it's cause she sent one to me first!"

I thought it was stinkin' funny. So matter of fact...such a funny little girl!

Then earlier today, we were watching TLC's "Bringing Home Baby" and Livi leans over and says, "sooo...when are you going to have another baby?" I about fell off my chair! Of course we were watching the show and things were going to come up, but come on!! She was very insistent and then said, "I want a sister next."

Alright Heavenly Father..we would like to order a beautiful, SMALL, baby girl..with some blonde hair and blue eyes..Oh, wait! We already have one, (Livi wasn't small though--8lbs. 2oz)), why would I want another, right? Two is plenty for me! ;-) Not to single anyone out, but for all those mother's that have more than 2 children, HOW DO YOU DO IT?!?! It seriously is one of the scariest things for me...and I am DEFINITELY NOT READY! Any advice, send it my way!

100 Posts (smile a day #9)

100 posts!! WAHOO!

Alright, so I realize that many of you have made it to this point LONG ago..but here I am, finally making it there!

So today this post is dedicated to cars, toilets, and 409. Here's the story:

I asked Livi to go to the bathroom. What I didn't know, was that Spencer had followed her and placed a car on her head. She got mad, pushed the car off her head and it landed in the toilet...and yes...she had already gone! It was NOT my favorite moment of the day...and ok, I was a little frustrated because we have no toilet brush to fish it out with AND barely ANY cleaning supplies because we have a maid who comes in and cleans (we threw away about $100 worth of supplies before we moved out here!!). So...thank goodness for the 409 we bought last week.

Oh, you want to know how I fished it out? Very simple actually. If any of you have bought the 2-pack Orange Juice at Sam's Club, then you know it is held together with 2 plastic rings...that was my fishing rod for the day! Thank you Sam's Club! And Thank you 409 for being a Universal Cleaner and antibacterial product! And last, but not least... thank you Livi and Spencer for giving me my 100th post!

Smile a day #8

Today we went to the BRAND NEW MEDINA library...WHOA!! It is fantastic and GORGEOUS! It is seriously HUGE! Livi and Spencer were so excited by the Children's Room. This place was decked out and it had it's own little children's corner where they were allowed to play with a train set, do some tumbling on the mats, etc.

I went to get a library card and Livi wanted one too.....so, she got her FIRST library card! That is my smile for the day because she was so smiley and happy and I just couldn't help smiling back. She was so pumped and of course she checked out Cinderella and a Barbie book. She carried her card everywhere and was so excited to check the books out herself. She is growing up WAY TOO FAST!

Smile a day #7

Today was SO fun! Because Luke had President's Day off, we decided to go DOWNTOWN...and it was fUnNn..we went to Tower City Center and into the Hard Rock Cafe! The kids had a blast and it was pretty decent food. The funniest part was when Livi looked up and saw a very explicit picture on the wall and said, "Mom..she's NAKED!!" Ok, not our brightest moment being in HRC, we should've looked around before we were seated and we will NEXT time. I just explained that some people do things that aren't right, but we can CHOOSE THE RIGHT!

Then as we were driving back home, we decided to detour and look at some neighborhoods a little closer to Cleveland. We went into one particular subdivision that was selling homes and saw a Model Home. So, Luke went in and 1/2 hour later still wasn't out, so the kids and I trekked inside and it was GORGEOUS!! We are actually looking at the plans and the pricing, but WHO knows what we should do. It would be brand new and upgraded to our liking, BUT then it would take some time to re-sell it and we aren't quite sure on the whole "moving back west" yet. It is very tempting, let me tell you! Oh well...maybe in another 10 years we'll be at that point..until then...apartment city: HERE WE COME!

Smile a Day #6 (Tuesday)

Today we had another FULL day!

We woke up, got Livi to school and Spencer to Amanda's house. Then the movers showed up!
We officially have a TON of STUFF! There were 6 movers today and it took them 3 1/2 hours to get everything moved and packed into the truck. We had 276 items! (and yes, most of those fit into our 924 sq. ft apartment!)

Livi had her Valentine's Day party and it was a BLAST!! Pictures to follow....

After I dropped Livi off at Amanda's, it was back to the apartment to clean, clean, clean...we ALMOST got it all finished by the 4:30 deadline, BUT alas, we were 10 minutes too late, so luke will go back tomorrow morning.

My smile a day was practically everything today...including being out of our apartment and it BEING CLEAN!!! Also, Livi was pretty stinkin' cute today at her party, Luke was a FABULOUS CLEANER AND we didn't have to make or pay for dinner since Tammy brought dinner...and LAST but certainly NOT least, Thank you Amanda for watching my children today!

Smile a Day #5

*Sorry we haven't posted since last Saturday, but here is the updated blog!*

MONDAY:
Awww, my smile-a-day comes VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TODAY!! The packers came today and did EVERYTHING! What a stress-free day! Luke and I have moved 9 times in our short married life...and this OBVIOUSLY is the way to do it! We literally sat on the couch and watched them pack our boxes.
Here is the break down:
3 movers, 7 HOURS OF PACKING, 150 boxes (we have a LOT of STUFF!), no kids (THANK YOU KRISTIN!!) = Small amount of stress!

Smile a Day #4

So, my smile a day counts for today AND tomorrow!
Last night a big group got together and went to a fun, cartoony restaurant called Beach Bums. IT WAS GREAT! It was a Rain Forest Cafe meets kid friendly, cartoony, beach hut. They had 2 HUGE projection screens and played Monsters, Inc. I never saw the arcade part, but the kids AND husbands enjoyed it. :)
While the husbands and kids were off, the wives had a chance to talk, talk, talk...it was wonderful!

Even though I don't have 1 particular thing that made me smile...I would have to say that I am so thankful for those friends that came and said goodbye. IT WAS A BLAST!
*More pictures to come when I get the girl group picture photoshopped!!*

Smile a Day #3

You know, this whole Smile a Day is actually pretty fun! It's nice to FIND things that make you happy and to just look around and take everything in... I know I have been talking about my sisters lately, but obviously they make me smile:

So, I know this is a day late, but my sister, ToTo, FINALLY got a blog! It is really awesome to read about how BYU is going and to get the updates. She is really passionate about one particular thing right now and that is getting to Africa this summer. There is a program through BYU that would help her get there to HELP OTHERS. She realizes that there are other people around the world that don't have what we have and she wants to help change that. What a great thing and such a worthy cause...My little sister is growing up!

Ok, this is SOOO random, might not be funny to the rest, but definitely got me CRACKING up last night and was a HUGE SMILING moment!! Our dear and wonderful friends, The Withers, had us over for dinner last night. Afterwards while playing cards, we were talking about me being pregnant (I AM NOT PREGNANT!!) and just then I smelled Bananas pretty strongly. Very Strongly. And Kristin was joking that I was pregnant and then Chad said, "You MUST be pregnant if you can smell THOSE bananas...they are all the way out in the car!"

Smile a Day #2

In the LDS Church when a new baby is born, they are given a name and a blessing (usually from their father). When I was given my blessing from my dad and Heavenly Father, they blessed me that, "your smile will be your sign of love with those around you. You will be guided by that--that you will want to share the love of the Gospel with all of your friends wherever you go."
That has always had a profound influence on me and it has really helped guide me. What a wonderful thing...to share the Gospel to those around us. I haven't worked as hard on it lately, but I will be jumping back on the bandwagon when we move to Ohio.

A Smile a Day...Day 1

I just thought I needed to write about smiling, why? "I just like to smile, smiling's my favorite!"

My lil sister wrote me an email today and this is what she wrote:

"I hope you are have a great day! If not, find something small that can make you smile ..then, SMILE! Life is so awesome and we are so blessed!"

Then Kiera wrote me a comment on my blog...it also made me smile!

"And now, I'm going to let you know that I'm grateful you're my sister!!! You're so sweet to everyone and you always seem so happy and optimistic...I know we all have our moments, but you do a great job being positive about things!!! I love ya!!"

So, here is to a smile a day. These made me smile. Thank you!

Happy to note..

I am happy to note that I have started a new blog (Rants 'n Raves)...don't be alarmed! The family blog will stay up and going as it does now, but with a little less pessimism. I have decided that I need to still have a place to write things when I am frustrated, but that doesn't mean that everyone else wants or even needs to read it. It is password protected, but if any of you feel like you need to rant 'n rave every once in a while, let me know and I'll invite you!!
The revamping of the blog continues....!

BTW, if for some reason your name isn't on my friends list..I'M SORRY! I was switching everything over and might have lost it...so let me know and I'll get it put back on!

Taking things for granted

Here is a little blog muse: Taking things for granted

I take things for granted. Everything. I shouldn't.
I was talking to one of my wonderful brother's today on the phone and we had a DANG good talk. (it has been WAY too long!) We talked about how as a family Luke and I made more money than most people around the world. WHOA, hold the phone!! I can't really comprehend that because there are TONS of people that make more than us, but then he started talking about the millions of people in Mexico and other 3rd world countries. He was right! And here I was complaining about our financial situation and how we have debt, etc. And then he thows that curve ball...and I realize: I take way too many things for granted.
I've had some physical problems lately and realized that I took my health for granted for WAY TOO long.
I have some GREAT and amazing friends and I remember when I used to take some of them for granted...this has STOPPED...and this move will be a POSITIVE and great experience.

Goal: Realizing that Heavenly Father has blessed me with more than I realize and it is up to me to change my life and attitude. More importantly, I am going to make this move A WONDERFUL experience. I am going to go out and meet people, explore new places and be a better mom and mother.

Are there things that you take for granted?
